Jacket City was an “acoustic” mini album released only through mail order and locally on cassette in 1989. We were in the midst of trying to get “Resin Cabin” out and were writing even more new material all the time. I recorded this on 4-track at our practice space. It is me, Josh, Chris and John with a little background vocal help on at least one song by our friend Erik. I’ll never forget these sessions as we were really having a great time. We would get the cheapest beer we could find and get trashed and just learn a song and record it. No fussing over anything(it shows!). Vocals go flat, guitars drop out, lots of weird ambient noise in the practice space and a lot of clowning around. We took our songs seriously, but our execution not always as much. We liked to have fun. We sent Chris out for a case of beer at 1:45 in the morning. He returned from ABC liquors with a mixed bag of: 1 six pack of ABC generic light beer, A six of black label 11-11 malt liquor, a six pack of red, white and blue and a six pack of Schaefer. Josh says the ABC generic beer was brewed from dust. Anyway, I have included lots of photos from the sessions and few that were taken from that period:

Okay and now for the tunes. Well, there isn’t much to say other than: This tape has not been played in at least 13 years. The sound quality dips some due to aging and wear.We cannot be held responsible to damage to your psyche caused by our incredible version of the Moody Blues classic. I expect us to be sued by Graham Edge immediately. You may notice that there are weird clips in between songs taken from various live babblings. There are also parts of the infamous “nortonism” tape from Auburn,AL circa 1986(!). Chris had visited from Mississippi for the weekend and we got tanked on cheap ass wine and I rolled tape. What you get are two drunken fools. One egging the other on as he develops a religion based on Husker Du bassist Greg Norton. If you listen you can hear Morrissey moan in the background. Weird times indeed.

I cannot find the original cover art to the cassette and I also cannot find any notes to give me the title to Josh’s tune on this. Josh if you remember you can comment and I’ll change it up.
