This week…
Here’s the cassette cover art to CHEDR by the SPoons and the bizarre insert that was folded up in the cassette. There are not too many photos of the Chedr era Spoons. Here’s a picture of us playing in the old Vinyl Fever in 1987. I remember we did a cover tune of “Sunday Morning” by the Velvet Underground and Chris and John Barlow spat fake blood. Fun times.
OK , heres my bitch..why didnt somebody in the band f**king shoot me for wearing those f**king hats. AAAAAARGHHH!
You wore those hats all the time and later on the sweat pants from the Sears “Frank Sampedro” collection. Frank Sampedro’s strong, half a pizza gone.
Oh and I almost forgot…it was the fucking 80′s!
Johnny M., the hats and the sweats were your look. For you to take them off would have been like taking the fabulous knockers off the Venus di Milo.
The one thing I remember about the “Frank Sampedro” sweats is the Spoon tour. By the time we reached our final gig in Bethany, WV, I had run of clean clothes and sweats and my underwear had been worn for about 4 days straight. I was freakin’ nasty. If there was any gig that I wish we had pictures (or videos) of, it would the final Spoons tour show in Bethany. We probably looked like Ernest Borgnine with liver damage…
As I remember we kept all the cigarette butts from the tour in a cookie can. That show in Bethany rocked freaking hard. They obviously did not get enough rock and roll up there. A fun time for sure.I still have the “Freebird” plaque.
We probably sounded like him too. But those bible kids dug it!! And gave us many beers.
Bethany was weird and fun. Playing in the cafeteria….
The look on your faces when the crowd started singing Buzz was priceless, you actually paused for a brief second…
Then going to the one bar after the show and drinking that beer with the shot of Captain Morgan’s dropped in.
