Canard Biography

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

I thought this was lost forever, but this was the rough bio that was going to go out with the Invaders from a Forbidden Planet/Canard cd promo kit. I never edited it so there are several typos. It’s also very strange. Once again, thanks to James Rose for sending me this.

I smell Bacon!

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

James Rose(formerly Boyle) sent me a huge package of Bacon Ray memorabilia he collected when he was a wee lad in Tallahassee. Now that he’s got a family and a new baby-he doesn’t have time to look after this crap and has moved on to more important things. He has graciously donated his collection to this site. Thanks Electric Mayo! So here are some flyers and set lists!

Here’s the cassette cover art to CHEDR by the SPoons and the bizarre insert that was folded up in the cassette. There are not too many photos of the Chedr era Spoons. Here’s a picture of us playing in the old Vinyl Fever in 1987. I remember we did a cover tune of “Sunday Morning” by the Velvet Underground and Chris and John Barlow spat fake blood. Fun times.

EL Sicko!

Once again I have been stricken ill and this time by some horrible throat bug that’s sapping my energy. I will post new stuff when I can. Maybe over the weekend. Defintiely by this monday.

Ultraboy!

Sunday, April 9th, 2006

I was going through some 4 track tapes today and found a master tape to some early demos by Ultraboy. I had no idea these existed as I had forgotten about them a long time ago. The sound quality is okay with some distortion, but the tape has not been touched in about 14 years. Ultraboy is one the least photographed of the bands I was in, but we covered a lot of ground in the two years we were together releasing two singles, a full length album on cassette and an ill fated but lovable 10″ mini album. All of these will be posted at some point. For now you can enjoy the spastic drumming of Kelly Shane, the sensitive vocalizing and supple bass of Canard and the out of control guitar mangling of Chris Gissendanner.
